I guess it’s time to let the cat out of the bag: I’m a cooking show fanatic. Specifically, I’m a big Gordon Ramsay fan. What’s Gordon’s favorite? Beef Wellington. Duh. I’d never had it until I made it myself — it seemed a little untouchable, a little out there and too fancy…but when it comes down to it, cooking is one part experimenting, one part intuition, and one part following directions. I can do that shit.
The first Wellington I ever cooked didn’t turn out poorly. It was delicious, in fact, but my meat wasn’t pink at all. I knew that I needed a little less cook time the next time, and by gosh, I think I nailed it. I don’t know what Gordon would actually say, but I think he might be proud. (Wishful thinking?!) I really felt like I accomplished something by cooking it exactly how I intended it to be!
