Inspiration & Process
I was on vacation with my family when the inspiration for this font struck. We’d been hanging out in Spartanburg, South Carolina prior to heading to Myrtle Beach for our spring break vacation. Driving around town & down the highways, I saw signage everywhere for various Southern-inspired things…markets, furniture stores…you name it. Having lived in the South before, it sort of tugged at my heart — simpler things, wide open spaces, and familiarity.
All of those signs had a rustic farmhouse feel to them, and I felt as though there weren’t enough fonts that matched what I had floating around in my head. Spring Market was designed with the feeling of a mom & pop market in mind, in a town where everyone knows everyone else. Little roadside markets & family-owned places make me so happy.
Spring Market was lettered on an iPad, and features a rough, wobbly edge to give it that charming rustic feel. The irregularities in this font make it perfectly imperfect.
